Overview

 The Oracle Database Operations Engineer implements, maintains and continuously improves RDBMS systems to ensure availability, scalability, and advancement of our enterprise applications, showcasing solid technical and interpersonal skills to assist in debugging protocols/process for stack callbacks, implementing corrective action within SQL scope, and analyzing performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strategy
    • Work with development staff to firm-up/harden database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
    • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
    • Research analysis and recommendation regarding database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of future database platform design/delivery/management efforts.
  • Operations/Config Management 
    • Strong expertise in Oracle 12/c19c administration.
    • Database performance and capacity management monitoringin Oracle RDS environment using AWS tools like Cloudwatch and Performance Insights
    • Exposure to Devops pipelines for deployment automation like Flyway or Liquibase.
    • Database maintenance activity implementation (backup/recovery, rebuilding/reorganizing indexes, etc)
    • Strong background in optimization around locking/blocking, Index and partition strategy, and schema design for performance.
    • Maintain optimal database configurations, parameters, and memory allocations in Oracle RDS
    • Technical expertise/guidance on database design (Logical and Physical modelling) and development
    • Demonstrate SQL, PL/SQL expertise related to performance tuning of database schema, stored procedures, and Oracle performance tools.
    • Database management activity automation using ODI, Oracle Scheduler, and other technologies
    • System monitoring, metric reporting, and diagnostics

  • BS degree in computer science or related field and/or at least 5-7 years equivalent work experience 
  • Experience with Oracle 19c or 23c RDS
  • Hands on experience as an Oracle Database Engineer or DBA.
  • Experience in performance tuning, query optimization using AWR, SQL Tuning Advisor, Explain Plan and DBMS_XPLAN or other related tools 
  • Experience resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking/deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, and data replication issues
