Overview

The Network Operations Technician coordinates support and response of alerting and metrics for all enterprise systems, applications, and services for symplr’s global infrastructure and applications. This individual participates in supervising network systems and diagnosing technical problems to help facilitate awareness and escalation within the symplr organization.  This position will also participate in the ongoing documentation, ticket tracking and reporting metrics of the IT Operations environment.   

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support a follow-the-sun operations center strategy to monitor and troubleshoot networks, servers, applications, and core infrastructure using tools such as Solarwinds, Alert Logic, Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite and other monitoring platforms to ensure 24/7 uptime for business-critical systems and applications
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server and storage resources, systems and key processes; reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Performed daily operational network & system infrastructure checks and balances for Production environments
  • Assist with administering and gathering required components and documentation of annual compliance audits
  • Perform diagnostics by retrieving performance statistics on networks from symplr’s network infrastructure and cloud operations
  • Execute & coordinate on-call escalations for 24x7x365 infrastructure & hosted environments
  • Initiate incident management & response with structured escalation levels for Production issues
  • Monitor various applications and monitoring consoles to maintain availability & performance metrics
  • Maintain network and systems preventive maintenance logging efforts to ensure network and data integrity
  • Provide capacity planning metrics on production infrastructure for forecasting purposes
  • Assist engineering project teams with the implementation, upgrades and support of core infrastructure products and services, including the analysis, testing and rolling-out of solutions
  • Help maintain and install monthly software updates and patches on development, QA and production servers during afterhours maintenance windows
  • Work on-call outside of regular business hours

Skills Required

  • Understanding of intermediate to advanced administration of monitoring tools sets used to enterprise systems and applications
  • Ability to work with different time schedules when peers and escalation staff will be located throughout a global environment
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures and techniques
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain networks and related hardware and software
  • Excellent time management skills, resource organization and priority establishment skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to analyze infrastructure issues and escalate to appropriate resources according to established SLAs
  • Ability to follow detailed procedural documentation and execute pre-defined play book processes based off flow chart logic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to all levels of the company and ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel
  • Attention to detail and organized
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Associates degree or completion of technical training program, or 2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Microsoft certification and/or Network+/A+ certification preferred
  • 2+ years of demonstrated knowledge in administering Microsoft Windows Active Directory domain environments; Windows Server 2012R2, 2016 and 2019 required, Linux experience desired
  • 2+ years demonstrated knowledge of monitor tools such as Solarwinds, Database Performance Analyzer, Alert Logic, Logic Monitor, IP Sentry, Sophos, Symantec DLP
  • Experience with Microsoft EMS E5 subscription
  • Experience with systems patching using Microsoft WSUS or Solarwinds Patch Manager

Experience with PowerShell, general scripting and process automation
